(LOS ANGELES) -- The body of a 21-year-old Candadian woman who went missing at the end of January was found in a water tank on the roof of a hotel Tuesday morning.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a call at 10:13 a.m. Tuesday after a maintenance worker reported finding a body in the water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel where Elisa Lam had been staying, police said. Lam was identified through body markings by later in the evening.
Lam, from Vancouver, British Columbia, arrived in Los Angeles on Jan. 26 and was last seen on Jan. 31. Her reason for traveling in California was not clear, but police said her final destination was Santa Cruz.
The LAPD released a surveillance video one week ago of Lam on the hotel's elevator, in which she appeared to be acting strangely.
The incident is under investigation.
