(LOS ANGELES) -- A shooting in Riverside ended with one person dead and another wounded late Wednesday night.

Daniel John Jones, 44, was visiting an acquaintance in an apartment complex on the 5300 block of Canyon Crest Drive when he entered the apartment of the first victim and opened fire, killing 57-year-old James Weatherby, according to the Los Angeles Times. According to the Times, Jones then walked to a landing between apartment buildings and shot a second person.

After fleeing the scene, Jones was involved in a minor traffic collision on the Moreno Valley Freeway. When a motorist offered to help, Jones threatened the motorist and took his keys, firing two shots before attempting to flee again.

Officers captured Jones near the site of the freeway shooting. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
